Many Firsts Including My First Walk Outdoors - Part 1

There have been many first time experiences for me in the recent days. Everything was enjoyable. Since mom said no lengthy posts unless absolutely necessary, this post will have two parts. Okay, let us see all the 'firsts' I experienced.

Not just the family, even the relatives and friends of family spring surprises. Just like the day when Big B's friend visited us; in fact, he told mom that he came to visit me. I felt happy and proud.

The family was talking about buying something for me. I wanted to know what it was but in spite of listening to their conversation, I could not understand what it was.

In a while, Big B and his friend left to get that 'something' for me. I was curious.

Shortly, they returned and opened the pack they had bought. "What is it?" I wondered. Big B put it around my neck. It seems it is called a collar. They all said I looked good with the collar on.

Mom, have you got your mobile cam on?
It seems that was not all. They took out something else from the bag. What could that be?
I hope it is something to eat please...
It was nothing I expected. They called it a leash and fastened  it to the collar.

This was my first experience with a collar and leash.
You both have disappointed me pals
Actually, it was a gift from Big B's friend. Thank you pal. But honestly, I didn't know what it was for. I was to know in a few days.

Family removed the collar because they felt having it 24*7 can hurt me.

Mom made millets adai for Big B. Though I had a good breakfast, I was drawn to kitchen because of the aroma. It seems mom expected that I would be tempted. So, she had made one without onions but with some coconut scrapings for me and with less oil.

I had my first adai that day.
May be they should share with me everything they eat
In a few days time, the doctor visited us to vaccinate me. He recommended to keep the collar on so I would get used to it by the time I am taken out for walking.

So, are they going to take me out for walking?
I felt somewhat excited
I had no idea how it was going to be outside. But I had some idea on what I needed while going out for walking.
Will you buy me shoes Big B?
After the doctor gave me booster dose in a few days, he said I was ready to be taken out. Oh my, I was hoping to hear those words.

The family decided on a day to take me out.  Big B was going to take me out and mom was supposed to join us.
Hope mom does not keep giving instructions

It was my first day out. Actually, I would have been happier if dad also came along.

Anyway, we set off and it was really fun. When I went out with the family on a car ride, I was not allowed to step down on the street. And I was not keen as well. But today, I was really keen to explore and be part of the world outside.
Don't worry, I will remember the route Big B
Though mom came with us, she was either behind us or walking in front of us. Of course, as always, she was trying to photograph me.
Mom, I am just walking on the road..not on the moon...
We returned home after half an hour. Father was curious to know what I did. Big B and mom told dad that not only did I enjoy the walk but was also well-behaved on the street. Dad felt very happy.
I'll make you proud of me dad
Both Big B and myself had a very good breakfast and settled on the sofa. For the first time, Big B felt sleepy before I did - another first time experience.
Oh bro, you must be very tired
Though I did not feel very sleepy, I did not want to disturb him.
It is bad that I can't offer him my lap as he does
In a while, I was going into deep sleep.
Oh, it feels nice to fall asleep
I have got a few more 'firsts' to talk about. Please wait till my next post.

However, here is just one more for now. The family had asked dad's friend for some help to be done on an urgent basis. I was wondering what that could be. But then, it was on the door for all those who visited us to see. And it was nice. Thank you dad's friend.
I always told you it is my home right?
The board says, "Welcome, I am at home"

What did mom learn?

1) Can we give coconut to dogs?

Yes, coconut meat is good for dog's health.  Manganese in coconut supports bone health and hence it is highly recommended to include it in your pet's diet. You can also sprinkle some coconut oil in your pet's food.

2) Are millets good for dogs?

Millets provide excellent source of vitamins and minerals. And they are rich in amino acids too. Being potent antioxidants, millets can boost your pet's health.

3) Which is the best choice for puppies - collar or harness?

When it comes to taking your puppies out for a walk, harness is naturally the best option. But collar is recommended when the puppy is at home. We will have a detailed post on it in a while.

Not long before, to indicate that a pet, in this case a dog, was inside, pet owners used to have a signboard that said, "Beware of dogs". A change in this trend was effected by Dr. Baktha, whose signboard says 'Pet Zone'.

The doctor says that we need to mention that there is a pet at home to let the visitors know so they can be careful. It is also a government rule. The doctor says that the signboard is only to mark that it is the pet's area and it is abominable to portray the adorable pets as if they are vampires.
