Fruits That are Unsafe For Dogs
While the rule 'Moderation is key' holds good for various fruits, some fruits are a definite no-no to your pets.
1) Grapes and Raisins
Grapes and raisins can cause very severe health risks in dogs. According to a research, tartaric acid, which is present in high concentrations in grapes and raisins, can cause acute renal failure in dogs. If your pet accidentally got to eat this fruit, do monitor her very closely. If any of the following symptoms are present, get an appointment with your veterinarian immediately:
- Excessive thirst
- Vomiting
- Diarrhea
2) Cherries
Cherries are not good for your pet pal. The pit, leaves and stem of cherries contain cyanide, which may cause severe health complications in dogs. The flesh part of cherries is safe for dogs but considering the risks associated with accidental consumption of pit by dog, it is essential that utmost caution is exercised when feeding cherries to your pet. Cherry pit can also cause intestinal blockage in dogs.
3) Unripe Tomatoes
Unripe tomatoes contain solanine, which is harmful to dogs. While ripe tomatoes are safe, you can feed them to your dog occasionally.
